What areas can be treated?
Treatment areas can include face, underarms, legs, chest and back, including intimate or sensitive areas such as bikini and lips.
How many sessions are required?
In general, 6 sessions with intervals of 4-6 weeks are recommended, however every patient is different. It also depends on the hair growth cycle which is divided into 3 phases; anagen, catagen and telogen phases. As laser energy only works on melanin-filled follicles during the anagen phase, permanent cannot be achieved in one single session. A consultation with one of our therapists will help determine sessions required.
What skin types is laser hair removal suitable for?
Cynosure ELITE+ is suitable for ALL skin types including light and dark skin. It’s dual wavelength technology uses Alexandrite wavelength (755 nm), for fair skin types 1-3 and the Nd:YAG wavelength (1064 nm) for darker skin types 4-6.
What type of results can I expect?
You can expect to see a gradual decrease in the hair thickness and in the amount of hair present. In addition, you may also see a decrease in stubble, rashes, ingrown hairs and ‘shadowing’ of the skin. Hairs in the anagen stage successfully treated with the laser, will result on permanent removal.
Does laser hair removal cause any pain or discomfort?
Treatments are virtually painless and will vary patient to patient. Patients describe a range of sensations during treatment from tingling to the snapping of a rubber band. As the amount of hair reduces each session, these sensations also decrease. Cryo-cooling technology is also uses during treatment which decreases any sensations or heat.
Minimal to none. Slight redness and/or swelling of the treated area can be expected which may last anywhere between 2-24 hours, 48 if the patient is sensitive. As there is no downtime, patients can usually return to daily activities immediately, making sure to follow post treatment aftercare protocol. This will be given by one of our practitioners.
